| The President's Message |
 Welcome
to the first Newsletter for 2005. This is a special year because we will
be celebrating our 20th Anniversary. Your Executive Committee members therefore
are planning to make this a special year, with as many activities as possible.
We look forward to your support in the activities, one of which is the "Logo
Competition". The Alumni Society of AOTS (ASA) Kerala, India organized a one-week study-visit (targeted for business relationships amongst small and Medium scale entrepreneurs) in Kochi from 7th-13th February 2005. Participants came from Bangladesh, Ghana, Macedonia, Malaysia, Romania and Sri Lanka. What was encouraging and satisfying to see was that the alumni members who are successful entrepreneurs did their bit by sponsoring some of the events. I am sure that if we were to ask our successful alumni members, they would also be ready to provide such assistance and cooperation. The biggest delegation was from Ghana, followed by Macedonia. We should perhaps organize a similar program because the Kerala program was a success. When I was talking with the participants, all indicated that it would be interesting to join a similar program in Malaysia. Some of the Ghanaians knew about our Asian African Entrepreneurs Program that we conducted last September/October because their colleagues had attended the program. It was really a useful program for entrepreneurs because it is forecast that India will be an economic giant in the next couple of years.
