The
Persatuan Alumni AOTS Malaysia (PAAM) organized a Japanese language orientation
on June 26th from 2~5pm for the Youth Exchange participants (Lions Clubs
International). 40 youths attended this orientation, which was facilitated
by our own committee members Ms. Au Yong Hui Nee and Mr. Lim Eng Swee.
Both facilitators emphasized on basic Japanese language and cultures.
Mr. Lim started off his lecture with learning basic words used by Japanese
in their daily conversation. Handouts were given to all participants for
their easy reference. Later, the participants were invited to watch a
video entitled Starting Your Life in Japan. The very interesting video
revolved around the daily life of a young man who went to Japan for the
first time. After the video show, Ms Au Yong explained to the participants
the importance of learning and getting familiar with Japanese cultures;
will help them to cope up and be comfortable with their new surroundings.
The participants showed a keen interest to learn the Japanese language.
After a brief question-answer session, the participants were served with
light refreshments.
PAAM targets to organize more of such orientation as a community project
to introduce Japanese language and culture to Malaysian society in general.
