MY HIPPO HOMESTAY EXPERIENCE IN JAPAN
By: Darleen Aixora bt. Leng, Kuching, Sarawak
My host family lives in Kanagawa, in Ebina City. The family consists of three Members. Otosan (father), Okasan (mother) and a son who is 9 years old.
Otosan works as a sales-engineer. He is busy most of the time while Okasan is a housewife.
My Okasan likes to cook. She taught me how to make sushi and I taught her to make 'telur dadar' (omelette). My Otosan is a computer wizard. He helped me burn some fantastic songs for my MP3.
I also followed my brother, Fumihiro to school. He's in Primary 3. His teacher taught me to write 'east' in Japanese. Okasan taught me how to write my
Name in Japanese. Aixora (my name) means 'love sky' in Japanese.
We went to the Shrine Temple. It was very gorgeous there. I also visited Tokyo Disneyland. On that day, it was Mickey's 20th Anniversary.
We watched the parade in the afternoon. It was beautiful.
I wore a kimono. Okasan's friend lent me here kimono. We had fun taking pictures!
We went to 'Oda Castle'. The castle is huge. There were different types of exhibition there. My brother wore a 'Samurai suite'. We had fun!
On my last day with Takamine family, we went to Odaiba and visited a big shopping complex where I bought a disc man. I also visited the Tokyo University. It is enormous and very beautiful. I hope to study there someday.
I enjoyed my stay in Japan. I learnt a lot from my Japanese family. I hope I can visit Japan again someday.
