In conjunction
with the Japan Festival in Malaysia 2003, PAAM together with Universiti
Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) has jointly organised a half day seminar on Kaizen:
Improving Operation with Continuous Improvement and 5'S's. Two of the speakers
for the seminar were PAAM members, Mr. Lim Eng Swee and Ms. Au Yong Hui
Nee.
The program was held on 23rd August 2003 at UKM, Bangi. The program started
at 9am with the first speaker, Mr. Lim Eng Swee speaking on the birth of
Kaizen concepts and linkages to business environment followed by the Concept
of Continuous Improvement Relationship to 5S activities by Ms. Au Yong.
The seminar drew about 180 participants, comprising mostly of UKM lecturers
and students from the faculty of Business Management, apart from associates
from local companies.
From the seminar, participants were introduced to Kaizen concept and methodologies
and got some eye-opening ideas to guide them through to better performance
and results. Participants got to learn how to implement Kaizen, 5S and QCC
techniques and they also learnt new techniques on how to improve efficiency.
The seminar ended with a Q & A session at 1pm. Many thanks to Prof.
Dr. Takiah Iskandar, Dean of Business Management who was the Chairperson
for the seminar, Mr. Susumu Yoshida, Researcher from the Embassy of Japan
and Mr. Takeshi Ichikawa, General Manager of AOTS KL who were also present
on that day.
