President's Message

Your Central Committee members have completed a year in your service. It has been a challenging year. We have achieved some progress, for example in increasing the membership. However, there is still a lot that the Committee would like to be achieved. But this can only be fully realised with the assistance and cooperation of all of you. Feedback from all of you would be valuable. In this instance, we warmly welcome you to write us (maybe to the Editor of this Newsletter, so that we can print your feedback). Your Central Committee had a brainstorming session on 8th February 2003. The objective was to assess where we are at, and to see where we want to go. We realised that we have not achieved our potential. We need a lot of humanware (i.e. members) support to go forward. Two of your active Central Committee members have resigned because of their work commitments. Ms Lee Sin Ping is very frequently out of the country to look after her business. Mr. David Chan has a new, bigger job in Brunei. On behalf of all of you, I wish both of them success in their undertakings. Our most recent major achievement has been the Vital Business Tools for Manufacturing Industries Seminar, held on 20-24 January 2003. We are proud that five countries were represented at the Seminar Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Philippines and Malaysia. Our Annual General Meeting was successfully held on 27th April 2003. It was encouraging to note that a few members volunteered to be in some of the sub-committees. These volunteers indicate a pro-activity which augurs well with our Association.
